Our Paul Harris Night was a success. We honored current Paul Harris Fellows as well as our newest Paul Harris Fellows who were presented with their certificates, lapel pins, and awards. In addition, we had the distinct pleasure of being joined by two of Vernon Rotary's Charter Members, who, on behalf of all the charter members, accepted the Charter Member Plaque which commemorates the founding of the Vernon Rotary Club in December of 1968.
Shown in the picture to the left is our Rotary Youth Exchange Student, Petite Comes, who performed a traditional Thai dance to kick things off for the evening.
Charter members Dan Borstad (D.M. Borstad Co.) and Dick Bilney (McAfee Ski Shop) joined President Robert McGuire in unveiling the Charter Member Plaque. The plaque will be displayed in the front foyer of The George Inn for all to see. Dan shared with us some amusing anecdotes about the early days of the Club and remarked that he remembers Vernon when there were "more cows than people."
Our prestigious group of Paul Harris Fellows includes current members Hans Gross, Ed Rolando, Jack Smith, Van Tamagnini, Steve McGee, and Reggie Phillips...
...and new members Kevin Colman, David Gornstein, and Vinny Zinno.
Thanks to a successful event go to: Teresa Vihti for arranging the logistics and menu, David Gornstein for compiling the Paul Harris information and preparing the recognition certificates for our current PHF, and Steve McGee for reaching out to those charter members in the community to invite them to the evening.
