The Vernon Rotary Club would like to thank Regi Phillips for his leadership as President this past Rotary year.  Regi recognized a number of Club members for their contributions during the past year.  The Club has been involved in a number of activities including the the inaugural Fall Classic golf outing and contributions to a number of local charities.  The Club supported a very successful Blood Drive at Heaven Hill Farm in August that was the most successful of the District and won us a trip to see the New York Yankees.

Susan George, recipient of this year's President's Citation, deserves special mention.  Susan created the Adopt-A-Village program and received District Grant support for this program.  Part of the program was to provide clothes to students in the Vernon Township School District.  Kathy Belli worked with Susan to anonymously identify these students by working with the nurses in the various schools.  In addition, the Rotary Dictionary project came under this program, with the annual distribution of Dictionaries to 3rd graders in Cedar Mountain and Rolling Hills schools.

We also welcome the incoming officers for the 2015-2016 year:  President Eddie Rolando, President-Elect John McLaughlin, Treasurer Van Tamagnini, Sergeant-At-Arms Bob Jordan, and Secretary Stephen McGee.

Congratulations to this year's Scholarship and Citizenship Award winners.  On Tuesday, June 9, the Vernon Rotary Club awarded three Citizenship Awards to Vernon High School graduating seniors Kristi Dizenzo, Cara Kelly, and Tim Mitchell.  Robert Genneken received the Amos Phillips Scholoarship.  In addition, there were two recipients from the Sussex County Vocational High School:  Lily Passaretti and Brittany Campanello.

These scholarships and awards are some of our proudest traditions in the Vernon Rotary Club.  This is a fine example of Rotary in Action in our community.

The Vernon Rotary Club delivered clothing to the Vernon Township School District in support of students needing assistance.  This is a big part of what Rotary is about - helping those in need in our local communities, as well as around the world.  Thanks to Member Susan George for her hard work on this program.

Thanks also to Steve McGee who escorted the Group Study Exchange on a tour of the Sterling Hill Mine in Franklin.  For those that have never been, it is worth a trip and even a repeat trip!

The Vernon Rotary Club will be awarding Scholarships to six local high school seniors - four from Vernon Township High School and two from Sussex Technical School.
